For larger, multinational companies, MYOB Greentree extends into multi-currency and multi-company financial management. All these functions including Greentree’s comprehensive payroll are provided by a single Greentree database without the need of any 3rd-party add-ons and interfacing.
Financial Management is core to all businesses, and in Construction and Engineering businesses this is complicated with the need to manage costs at a job level.

Unlike most Job Cost systems, Greentree’s job costing can be designed and structured as loosely or tightly coupled to the General Ledger as your business requires. This allows your financial management and accounts to be designed to meet financial and accounting reporting requirements independently of the Job Cost reporting requirements.

Greentree offers a comprehensive Financial Suite of modules that includes all the standard accounting features you would expect of any accounting system, and may features not found in other systems such as GL Transaction Analysis that allows additional and selective multi-dimensional tracking of transaction at a level below the standard Chart of Accounts (i.e. to track FBT costs by person on GL Accounts associated with FBT expenditure, etc.)

For larger groups or multi-national operations, Multi-Currency/Multi-Company accounting is critical.  MYOB Greentree accommodates these needs with a comprehensive suite of Global Finance modules.

Inter-company transaction processing (sometimes called multi-company quad accounting) is available as standard in Greentree’s General Ledger.

The Foreign Currency module provides foreign currency capability across the entire system and automatically processes transactions such as unrealised and realised exchange gain/losses where required.

Where subsidiaries with different functional currencies need to be consolidated we would recommend, in fact it is almost critical, to use a ‘Hard’ consolidation process using Greentree’s consolidation module.  A ‘Hard’ consolidation processes transactions from subsidiary company ledgers into a consolidated company ledger, calculating exchange rates on consolidation.

If only one functional currency is used across all companies ‘Soft’ consolidations using Greentree’s excellent integration with Excel or WebView Financial reports module is often adequate.  A ‘Soft’ consolidation is where subsidiary ledgers are consolidated through a reporting mechanism and no transactional processing happens.

For most construction and engineering firms, Job Costing is the heart of their operational and financial management.  Using MYOB Greentree’s Job Costing module this financial and operational management cost structure can be designed independently of the General Ledger with mapping rules that determine where financial transactions are posted into the General Ledger.

This means Job Cost structures can be designed independently of the General Ledger structure, giving Job and Project Managers freedom to structure the system to meet their needs, not financial accounting needs.

Greentree’s Job Costing can be as simple as a list of Jobs, or broken down to an unlimited number of child/grand-child jobs, and the child/grand-child structure can go down to an unlimited number of levels.

Each Job can also be broken down to an unlimited number of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and each WBS can be limited to only allow specified cost types and employee groups.  This allows the firm, if required, to prevent an electrician from  working on a mechanical job and coding their time to project management etc.

Jobs and WBS structures can all be scheduled with start/end dates, percentage complete, and project completion management.  These features are then available for automated calculation of earned revenue versus actual revenue to create revenue recognition entries allowing the business to see actual compared to earned revenue, ‘S’ curve analysis etc

All engineering and construction businesses typically have a substantial investment in plant and equipment that needs to be routinely serviced and maintained to maximise productivity.

MYOB Greentree provides comprehensive Plant Maintenance solutions for fixed and mobile plant that include:

  • Ability to charge plant to cost centre’s and/or jobs types providing accurate billing and charge-out costing by Job, department, etc.
  • Clear visibility of equipment costs by category, including fixed costs such as financing, overhead costs such as depreciation, operational costs such as fuel, and maintenance costs such as repairs.
  • Planned maintenance scheduling
  • Forecast inventory requirements for servicing.
  • Unlimited time based or unit of measure (i.e. Kms) based maintenance cycles.

Occupational Health and Safety is an important part of modern industry, and no more so than in an industry that works in dangerous situations with large plant and machinery. For smaller operations a simple Incident Reporting register is required and for larger operations this needs to extend into a comprehensive incident process management solution to ensure every incident is processed consistently and completely based on the category and severity of the incident.

Simple Incident Reporting can be managed within the MYOB Greentree Occupational Health and Safety module, but when combined with Greentree’s Business Process Management and Service modules Greentree is able to apply consistent and comprehensive standards and reporting to any organisations OH&S policy.
