We’re here to help with Single Touch PayrollSTP will streamline business reporting obligations for payroll related details that are currently only reported once an employee starts employment or on an annual basis as part of the PAYG (Withholding) Payment Summary process.
The change that STP brings is that when an employer pays their employees, the payroll information will be sent to the ATO from their payroll solution through the Standard Business Reporting (SBR) connection at the same time the employee is paid.
Employers will be required to report the following directly to the ATO:
- Salary or wages information (including the breakdown);
- Pay as you go (PAYG) withholding amounts; and
- Super Guarantee (SGC) information.
Employers with 20 or more employees on the 1st of April 2018 will need to start reporting information paid to employees after the 1st of July 2018. Employers with 19 or less will be required to start reporting from the 1st of July 2019.
When Can I Start?
Whilst an organisation must be compliant before the respective dates, an organisation can begin to report using STP at any time from now providing their payroll software can meet the reporting requirements (This includes organisations with 19 or less employees). Addax are currently in the testing phase with a selection of clients using MYOB Greentree. Once the testing phase is complete, the team at Addax will be in touch with customers to install the STP updates.
While STP reporting changes the processes a business has in reporting the required information to the ATO, it does not change in any way an employer’s obligations under the Fair Work Act 2009, or regulations to provide information to an employee about their pay on a payslip.
